Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Logistics, Stores & Dispatch Operative to join our team. This is a hands-on role responsible for the receipt, storage, control and dispatch of goods, ensuring inventory accuracy and supporting efficient warehouse, production and customer delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards & Stores
• Receive deliveries and verify documentation against purchase orders.
• Inspect incoming goods and report damage or discrepancies to the Supply Chain team.
• Book received items into the company ERP system and route relevant items for inspection.
• Store materials in designated locations and maintain organised storage areas.
• Control stock movements, including cartridge storage.
• Process stores requests and stock transfers.
• Kit components in accordance with work order instructions and issue completed kits to Operations.
• Carry out cycle counts and assist with stocktaking activities.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Monitor shelf-life-controlled products and provide status updates to Supply Chain.
Dispatch & Logistics
• Pack goods for customers and subcontractors in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Prepare commercial, inland, export and MOD shipments, including packing to Def Stan 81-41 requirements.
• Arrange transport, packing quotations and collections.
• Process supplier returns as required.
• Complete dispatch documentation accurately and maintain shipping records.
• Maintain minimum stock levels of packaging materials.
• Liaise with customers throughout the shipping process.
Warehouse Operations
• Operate company lifting equipment safely.
• Move materials using pallet trucks and forklift trucks in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Drive the company van when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and efficient working environment.
• Follow all company procedures, including health and safety and manual handling requirements.
• Support other departments as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
• Experience in a warehouse, stores, goods-inwards, logistics or dispatch environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively prioritise workload.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Desirable
• Dangerous Goods by Air qualification (training can be provided).
• Forklift Truck licence (training can be provided).
• Experience using inventory management or ERP systems.
